![]() ![]() The Jewish believers focused more on the crucifixion, while the Gentile believers focused more on celebrating the Lord's resurrection: The early Church observed Passover, the Feast of Unleavened Bread, and the Feast of First fruits at the same time as the Jews, starting on the 14th day of Nisan. What is the truth about Easter?įirst things first, I had to look at early Church history to figure out where this transition from the traditional Jewish Passover to Easter took place.ġ.The first myth debunked: Easter was not created by Constantine and the Roman Catholic church. After all, we celebrate Christ's resurrection at Easter and the church has been doing that for the last 2,000 years. As a protestant, I couldn't fathom why the reformers would have kept this holiday if it really had pagan roots. Most Christian authors and even pastors had conceded to this Christianized paganism concept. Honestly, I had hadn't heard this until recently (usually from Christian cultists and athiests), but had never questioned it myself, and didn't quite fully know how to answer these ladies. Not long after, a woman in my small group brought up the fertility goddess, Eostre, asking whether Christians should celebrate a holiday that had pagan roots. Rebuke from the Apostle Paul to Cephas Ībout two years ago I received an article from an inquiring friend of mine entitled, "Why I celebrate Passover instead of Easter." The article went on to "expose" Easter as some sort of pagan holiday Christianized by the Roman Catholic Church and Roman Emperor, Constantine. "If you, though a Jew, live like a Gentile and not like a Jew, how can you force the Gentiles to live like Jews?" I believe that salvation is by God's grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone and that becoming a follower of Jesus means I've acknowledged that I'm a sinner in need of a Savior, repented, and put my trust in the finished work of Christ for the forgiveness of my sins. ![]() I believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the second person of the trinity, who died on a cross as an atoning sacrifice for my sins and the sins of the world, was buried, raised to life, and is physically and visibly coming back to reign on the earth. Be Advised: This blog is not politically corrrect and some people will find it offensive because my beliefs clash with their worldview. From an eschatalogical viewpoint, I believe the rapture of the church will occur before the seven year Tribulation and Jesus will establish a literal 1,000 year kingdom at his second coming. This blog is about sharing the Word of God, awakening a complacent church, discerning false teachers and religions, and examining current events from an evangelical Christian perspective. ![]()
